Effective December 28, 2020 - the FAA has issued AD2020-24-05 requiring compliance with Piper Mandatory Service Bulletin (MSB)1304A on all PA28-140/150/160/180/235 & PA32-260/300 within 100 hours or 12 Months.

On December 2, 2021, Piper revised MSB1304A to MSB1304B that includes installing Piper Access Kit 88692-701 on the FRONT side of the Main Spar.

Piper Aircraft has issued three Mandatory Service Bulletins, MSB738B, 1244C and 1304B, to inspect and protect the Main and Rear Wing Spars between the Fuel Tanks and the Fuselage. There have been cases of substantial corrosion on both sides of the Main Spar and corrosion on the Steel Wing Attach Plates on the Rear Spar. The only way to gain access to the REAR of the Main Spar and FRONT of the Rear Spar is to install Access Kit, 765-106 (765-106V).  This inspection should be complied within the next 100 hours or during the next inspection cycle (Annual) and thereafter every 2000 hours or 7 years.

NOTE: This Kit allows access to the REAR of the Main Wing Spar and FRONT of the Rear Wing Spar. Some PA28/32 aircraft have an Access Hole (factory installed) in FRONT of the Main Wing Spar between the Fuel Tank and the Fuselage. If your aircraft does NOT have this Access Hole - you may consider a separate Access Kit, 88692-701, to inspect the FRONT of the Main Wing Spars. The only other means to access the FRONT of the Main Wing Spars is to remove the Fuel Tank (MSB1006) and gain access through the Lightning Holes in the inboard Ribs. You may want to complete the Inspection of the FRONT of the Main Spar and MSB1006, Fuel Tank Inspection, at the same time prior to completing MSB1304B, REAR of the Main Spar Inspection.

The inspection, MSB1244C, applies to all PA28/32 Aircraft, except Retractable Aircraft - as there is no room to install the Access Kit due to the placement of the Wheel Wells.

The inspection MSB1304B applies to early PA28/32 Aircraft: PA28-140/150/160/180/235 and PA32-260/300E.
